Sustainability
COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY
Environmental sustainability is essential for the future of our planet and for future generations. This commitment to the agricultural sector, the meatpacking industry, and the preservation of natural resources, combined with socio-environmental responsibility, is crucial to balancing economic development and environmental protection.
At El Toro Beef Meatpacking, we understand that our responsibility goes beyond commercial boundaries. We are committed to promoting sustainable practices and reflecting this responsibility with the same excellence and quality that we attribute to our products throughout our entire operational chain.
COMMITMENT TO SUSTAINABILITY AND SARB 026/23 COMPLIANCE
Our commitment to sustainability and socio-environmental compliance is evidenced by our adherence to SARB 026/23. We are committed to making every effort to have, by December 2025, a traceability and geomonitoring system that allows us to verify and ensure that no cattle associated with illegal deforestation are acquired from our direct and first-tier indirect suppliers.
This initiative is supported by our partnership with Niceplanet, a company specialized in geomonitoring and socio-environmental compliance consulting. In addition to meeting legal regulations, we are promoting sustainability throughout our supply chain, reducing negative impacts on the environment and communities.
We have made a definitive decision to invest significantly in these crucial aspects of our operation, reinforcing the importance of operating responsibly and ethically. In collaboration with Niceplanet, we have implemented a platform that analyzes all established criteria and protocols, ensuring efficiency and legitimacy in our socio-environmental analysis and monitoring process for all our direct cattle suppliers.
We are proud to inform our diverse suppliers and clients that we fully comply with the established requirements and protocols, ensuring total alignment with the Social, Environmental, and Climate Responsibility Policies (PRSAC) and the Integrated Risk Management (GIR). Additionally, we are implementing rigorous procedures for managing the risk of Illegal Deforestation associated with our operations.
OUR SUSTAINABLE PURCHASING PRACTICES
Our efforts also include the adoption of verification and control for the Traceability and Monitoring of Direct and Indirect Suppliers, which encompass various measures, such as:
- Requesting and archiving SICAR - the Rural Environmental Registry of all suppliers;
- Monitoring Illegal Deforestation Embargoes based on lists maintained by IBAMA and applicable State Environmental Agencies;
- Verifying overlaps with deforestation polygons from the PRODES/INPE system;
- Declaration and best practices in handling, transportation, and slaughter regarding Animal Welfare and Sanitary Management;
- Checking for overlaps with Conservation Units, recognized Indigenous Lands, and Quilombola areas;
- Analyzing authorizations for vegetation suppression and overlaps with properties registered in the Rural Environmental Registry (SICAR);
- Verifying registration in the Employer Register related to slave-like labor conditions;
- Maintaining detailed records of livestock acquisition information, such as Invoices and GTA (Animal Transit Guide) corresponding to purchase operations;
- Conducting supplier registration assessments via the Niceplanet system, which monitors and guarantees the origin of cattle through Traceability and Transparency.
